Book an annual gas safety check without quietly losing months.

Enter the current renewal deadline to find when the two-month preservation window opens, the final due date, and the next anniversary if the qualifying timing rules are used.

Current deadline

Find the window that keeps your renewal anniversary.

Use the current deadline or expiry date for the annual gas safety check. Do not substitute the inspection date if an earlier check already preserved a different anniversary.

Check the record or confirm the deadline with the engineer if it is unclear.

Renewal FAQs

The timing rule, without the calendar guesswork.

Should I enter the gas safety inspection date or the current deadline?

Enter the current deadline or expiry date. If an earlier inspection preserved an existing anniversary, simply adding twelve months to its inspection date can produce the wrong window.

Does completing the check early shorten the next gas safety year?

HSE guidance says a qualifying check completed within the two months before the due date can retain the original deadline. A check completed earlier will normally start a new twelve-month cycle.

Can I use the calculator after the deadline has passed?

It can show that the date is overdue, but it cannot extend or restore an expired record. Arrange the check and obtain competent advice immediately.

How long should gas safety check records be kept?

HSE’s amended guidance says to retain a check record until two further checks have been completed. The last record for an appliance or flue removed from the premises is retained for two years.
